A Warrior's Wish® grants Wishes with the purpose of empowering the service member by restoring hope. Wish requests cannot include debt reduction, bill or automobile payments, or weapons purchases. Wishes must not compromise moral and ethical standards of behavior as defined by the board of directors.
To be eligible for A Warriors Wish®, applicants must have served in the U.S. military and have sustained injury in the line of duty post 9/11. Service members must be considered severely injured as defined by the Department of Defense to include but not limited to loss of limb, sight, and/or hearing, traumatic brain injury, post-traumatic stress disorder with co-occurring problems (disorders), spinal cord injury, or severe burns. Other factors considered include the impact on the Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) for the service member.
Completed application packages must include the application, personal essay, certification of service, and medical certification of severity of injury. Application packages are reviewed carefully and then submitted to the Wish committee for a decision. Applicants will be notified via mail.
The A Warrior's Wish® application period is from September 1 – December 1, 2014. Interested candidates should send inquiries to: Intake@hopeforthewarriors.org. Candidates will be contacted for an interview during the application period, and qualified candidates will receive A Warrior's Wish® application to be completed. Applications will be reviewed by the Wish Selection Committee in January 2015.
