In May of 2007, the life of this Army Reserve Staff Sergeant was altered during a deployment in Iraq when a live mortar fell twenty meters away from him. Injuries sustained include chronic post-traumatic stress and traumatic brain injury, as well as anxiety and sleep apnea. In 2009, he medically retired from the Army and focused on his recovery.
After exhausting unsuccessful medical treatment options, he submitted an application to the Hope For The Warriors® A Warrior's Wish® Program. Desperate for a treatment that would heal heart, soul and mind, his Wish was to be sent to the Black Lagoon in Iceland, acclaimed for innovation in health and wellness. In December 2011, Hope For The Warriors® granted this Wish, proud to honor this service member's sacrifice while supporting the family's journey.
